Van Ness/Forest Hills renovation

An excellent example of a project that doesn’t seek to add square footage at great expense, but rather reprograms existing space to better fit the needs of the homeowners. A traditional center-hall colonial in a stable neighborhood with great schools. With kids moving up from elementary school into the tweens and teens, though, homeowners found themselves constantly thinking they didn’t have enough usable space. At the same time, they had a garage and a sun porch that they just weren't using.

On this project, aggregate adapted the sun porch to become part of the family’s year-round living space, and converted the unused garage into a mudroom and office, plus much needed custom storage. And, we opened the kitchen - adapting it with custom storage solutions for the family’s kosher needs - and dining area for easier entertaining. Additional adjustments were made outdoors, with a new deck and refreshed landscaping, to expand the family’s living quarters into their formerly untapped outdoor space.
